Privacy Policy
The short version: Daylight Glow doesn't collect any of your data.
Sunrise, sunset and daylight are worked out on your iPhone, and we never see your location. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and nothing is ever sent to us.
Who we are
Daylight Glow is made by Cascadia Digital Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Daylight Glow iPhone app and its widgets use, and how.
Your location
If you choose Use My Location, Daylight Glow asks iOS for your location, to within about a kilometre, while the app is open. It uses the coordinates only to calculate sunrise, sunset, golden hour and day length, and the name of your town to label the screen. The calculations happen entirely on your iPhone.
Daylight Glow never tracks your location in the background, and never sends it to us. To show your town's name, the app asks Apple's maps service to look up the coordinates, the same way the Maps app does. That lookup is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Searching for a city
If you search for a city instead, what you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matching places, the same way it would be in the Maps app. Apple handles that search under its privacy policy. We never see it.
Where your data is kept
The places you choose, your theme and whether you have Plus are stored only on your iPhone, in storage shared between the Daylight Glow app and its widgets so they show the same thing. This data is never sent off your device, never stored in iCloud, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or marketing.
Purchases
Daylight Glow Plus and tips are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details.
Your choices
- Turn off location access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Daylight. You can still search for a city.
- Remove a place at any time from the Places screen in the app.
- Deleting Daylight Glow removes everything it stored on your iPhone.
This website
This website (daylightglow.app) uses Fathom Analytics to count visits. Fathom doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal information, and doesn't track you across other websites. We only see totals, like how many people visited a page. If you try a theme on the site, your choice is saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
Children
Daylight Glow doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If Daylight Glow ever starts collecting data, we'll update this policy before that change ships.
